I’ve been doing some research for the new book and in particular about a plant, the Neelakurinji that grows in the area. My working title for the new book is Kurinji Flowers – and I came across a sentence about the Niligri Hills where the book is set and the plant grows. When I read: “The Niligiri Hills which literally means the blue mountains, got their name from the purplish blue flowers of Neelakurinji that blossoms gregariously only once in 12 years.” I was stunned. Completely unaware of this, I had made a decision to set the book in another lot of Blue Mountains. How spooky is that?
Well one thing’s clear – my next book will just have to be set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia (working title Lonesome Pine?) and the one after in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. Well that’s the holidays sorted for the next few years!
